The corridor

The ambulance heads east on NH-65 to Vijayawada’s outskirts, then turns south on the coastal NH-16 through Ongole and Nellore, entering Tamil Nadu at the Tada border and reaching Chennai from the north past Red Hills.

Two distinct halves: the Hyderabad–Vijayawada leg is rolling Deccan highway, while the Vijayawada–Chennai leg is flat coastal corridor with heavy truck traffic at night. The Tada–Chennai entry brings you conveniently close to hospitals in north Chennai first; for institutions in the south of the city (Adyar, OMR), the inner-city crossing is the slowest section of the entire journey.

Frequently asked questions

Is the coastal route or the Tirupati route better for Chennai?

The NH-65/NH-16 coastal route via Vijayawada and Nellore is faster and better serviced for ambulances than routes through Tirupati, and passes major hospitals at Vijayawada and Nellore — useful safety margin for critical patients.

How long does an ambulance take from Hyderabad to Chennai?

About 11–14 hours for the 630 km via NH-65 → NH-16, including patient halts. Ambulances drive steadily for the patient’s comfort — a private car’s time is not the right benchmark.

Can a critical patient travel from Hyderabad to Chennai by road?

Usually yes, with the right configuration: ICU vehicle, matching crew, oxygen with deep reserve, and en-route hospitals marked. The treating doctor’s travel clearance is the starting point — we screen every case honestly and advise if rail or air would serve better.

How do we get a quotation for this route?

Call +91 99210 86108 or send an enquiry with the patient’s condition and pickup details. We confirm the configuration and provide a written quotation before dispatch.
