At the hospital
The hospital issues a certificate of the cause of death and completes its release process. If the death is a medico-legal case, police formalities and a post-mortem must be completed first. Ask the hospital what is pending and how long it will take.

- Hospital release documents
- Police clearance, if applicable
- Identity documents of the deceased and the accompanying family
Preservation
For long journeys or when the funeral must wait for relatives, a freezer box helps preserve the body. Some families also arrange embalming through a hospital or authorised service for long journeys.
